Inner balance & deep effect - your connective tissue massage in Kleinbasel

Sometimes the cause of discomfort lies deeper than it appears. Connective tissue massage (CTM) is a special form of reflexology that not only works locally, but also influences your internal organs and the autonomic nervous system via nerve pathways. At PhysioART in Basel, we use this precise technique to activate your body's self-healing powers and sustainably release deep-seated tension.

  • Specialist therapists with a thorough training in reflexology techniques
  • Holistic effect on organs, blood vessels and the nervous system
  • Ideal for chronic pain, circulatory disorders and stress

What is the Connective tissue massage

Connective tissue massage is one of the so-called redirection therapies. In this process, targeted traction stimuli are applied to the subcutaneous connective tissue using the fingertips. These stimuli often feel to the patient like a sharp „cutting sensation“.

The special thing: Via the cutivisceral reflex arc, nerve impulses are sent to internal organs and deeper tissue layers. This enables us not only to release local adhesions, but also to achieve positive effects in functional organ disorders, circulatory disturbances or hormonal imbalances.

How to get back to your everyday life

At the beginning of every therapy session, we have a short chat to understand your symptoms and needs. Based on this, we see whether connective tissue massage is the right treatment for you.

  1. Palpation finding
First, we will examine your back for tension differences and tissue indentations. These give us an indication of which reflex zones and organs require support.
  2. Systematic structuring of the treatment
The massage usually begins in the region of the sacrum and works its way systematically upwards. Through the special stroking and pulling techniques, the tissue is loosened and the body's neural response is provoked.
  3. Quiet period and integration
As connective tissue massage has a strong effect on the nervous system, a short rest period after the treatment is important. We will discuss your body's reaction and plan the next steps for the success of your therapy.

Assumption of costs the health insurance company

    1. Check supplementary insurance: As a recognised method of medical massage, connective tissue massage (CTM) is often billed through supplemental insurance (alternative medicine). We recommend checking briefly with your health insurance provider in advance.
    2. Basic insurance (physiotherapy): If there is a medical prescription for physiotherapy, connective tissue massage can be covered by the basic insurance as part of the treatment.
    3. Submit invoice: After the treatment, you will receive a detailed invoice that you can easily submit to your health insurance company.

Frequently asked questions about connective tissue massage

During treatment, a characteristic, slightly burning or cutting sensation often occurs on the skin. This is a sign that the desired therapeutic stimulus is reaching the connective tissue.

We achieve excellent results with migraines, circulatory disorders in the legs, digestive complaints, menstrual cramps and chronic back conditions.

Since connective tissue massage has a strongly regulating effect, temporary fatigue or increased blood circulation (redness) may occur. These are positive signs of the body's reaction.

While the classical massage directly kneads the muscle, connective tissue massage works more superficially in the tissue, but achieves a deeper effect on the nervous system and organs through reflex pathways.

Often 6 to 10 sessions are useful to achieve a lasting rebalancing of the vegetative nervous system.

Bring your prescription and health insurance card with you if required. We provide all the necessary materials for the treatment itself.

As a rule, we can also make appointments at short notice. It is best to book this directly via our online calendar https://physio-art-basel.ch/termin-online-reservieren/ or contact us personally +41 061 692 08 08and we will find a suitable solution.
