What is a Electrotherapy?
Electrotherapy - also known as stimulation current therapy - is a form of physical treatment in which targeted current pulses are transmitted to the skin and underlying structures via electrodes. Different types of current are used depending on the objective:
- Pain-relieving currents (e.g. TENS)
- Muscle stimulating currents (e.g. EMS)
- Anti-inflammatory applications
- Promotes blood and lymph circulation
The treatment is pain-free and can be customised - ideal as a supplement to traditional physiotherapy.
When is electrotherapy useful?
This form of therapy is suitable for a wide range of complaints - both acute and chronic. Common areas of application are
