What is a Electrotherapy?

Electrotherapy - also known as stimulation current therapy - is a form of physical treatment in which targeted current pulses are transmitted to the skin and underlying structures via electrodes. Different types of current are used depending on the objective:

  • Pain-relieving currents (e.g. TENS)
  • Muscle stimulating currents (e.g. EMS)
  • Anti-inflammatory applications
  • Promotes blood and lymph circulation

The treatment is pain-free and can be customised - ideal as a supplement to traditional physiotherapy.

When is electrotherapy useful?

This form of therapy is suitable for a wide range of complaints - both acute and chronic. Common areas of application are

Die Elektrotherapie (auch Reizstromtherapie genannt) nutzt gezielte elektrische Impulse, um die natürlichen Heilungsprozesse im Körper zu aktivieren. Über Elektroden auf der Haut werden sanfte Ströme an das Gewebe abgegeben. Je nach Frequenz wirkt dies schmerzlindernd, durchblutungsfördernd oder muskelstimulierend. Bei PhysioArt setzen wir modernste Geräte ein, um die Therapie exakt auf Ihr Beschwerdebild abzustimmen.

In unserer Praxis in Basel kommen verschiedene Stromformen zum Einsatz:

 

  • TENS (Transkutane Elektrische Nervenstimulation): Zur gezielten Blockade von Schmerzsignalen.

Nein. Während der Behandlung spüren Sie lediglich ein leichtes Kribbeln oder ein angenehmes Pulsieren auf der Haut. Die Intensität wird von unseren Therapeuten stets so eingestellt, dass sie wirksam, aber absolut komfortabel für Sie ist.

Ja. Wenn die Elektrotherapie Teil einer ärztlich verordneten Physiotherapie ist, wird sie über die Schweizer Grundversicherung (KVG) sowie die Unfallversicherung (UVG) abgedeckt. 

Obwohl die Methode sehr sicher ist, gibt es einige Kontraindikationen. Dazu gehören Träger von Herzschrittmachern oder Defibrillatoren, metallische Implantate im Behandlungsgebiet, Schwangerschaft (im Rumpfbereich) sowie akute Hautentzündungen. In einem Beratungsgespräch klären wir vorab, ob die Therapie für Sie geeignet ist.
